Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport (FXE) is a General Aviation Airport owned and operated by the City of Fort Lauderdale. The Executive Airport is located in the heart of the City’s Uptown Business District, just minutes from downtown Fort Lauderdale. FXE features an array of amenities:

  • Four Fixed-Base Operators (FBOs) that provide fueling, maintenance, aircraft hangars, and other aviation and related services to aircraft operators and their passengers
  • 24-hour FAA Air Traffic Control Tower
  • US Customs and Border Protection facility
  • 24-hour Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting services
  • 24-hour airport security
  • Fort Lauderdale Police Substation

AIRPORT BOUNDARIES

West Cypress Creek Road to the North; NW 10th Terrace/NW 12th Avenue to the East; Commercial Boulevard to the South; and NW 31st Avenue to the West.

FXE property totals approximately 1,000 acres.

 

ADMINISTRATION

The Airport oversees the administration of land leases, development of airport property, as well as operates, maintains, and promotes the Executive Airport, Airport Industrial Airpark, and the Fort Lauderdale Downtown Helistop (DT1), which serves as a multimodal connection to and from the downtown business area.

FXE also administers and promotes the City of Fort Lauderdale’s Foreign-Trade Zone-241 (FTZ-241) with an onsite U.S. Customs and Border Protection facility. This designation offers numerous economic benefits and advantages to companies in the export/import business such as duty reduction, deferral, or elimination on merchandise in the zone. The FTZ-241 supports an increase in high-wage jobs and economic development in the County.

FUNDING

FXE is self-sustaining, using revenues generated from land leases and fuel flowage fees to fund operational costs. Surplus revenue is used as matching funds for capital improvement projects and to leverage state and federal grants.

 

ECONOMIC IMPACT

According to the Florida Department of Transportation's 2022 Statewide Economic Impact Study, the Executive Airport supports 22, 959 jobs, with a payroll of $1.2B benefiting the local economy/residents. TAXES

Executive Airport and Airport Industrial Airpark tenants pay approximately $4 million in taxes each year. These two facilities combined comprise the City’s second largest taxpayer.

FXE does not receive local tax dollars (ad valorem tax / property tax).

 

AIRCRAFT NOISE REPORTING LINE

Neighbors may call a 24-hour Aircraft Noise Reporting Line at 954-828-6666 or submit the Aircraft Noise Reporting Form to report excessively loud aircraft.

 

NUMBER OF VISITORS

More than 200,000 visitors arrive in the area each year through Executive Airport.

 

NUMBER OF OPERATIONS

Executive Airport ranks as one of the busiest general aviation airports in the country with more than 160,000 annual operations. It is the busiest U.S. Customs & Boarder Protection facility for clearing international arrivals of general aviation aircraft and passengers.
